Hi. I’m Tess.

I’m a trauma-informed movement coach & speaker. I help people who aren’t “gym people” feel more at home in their body. The best way to get to know me is to spend time with me. I invite you to schedule a coffee chat here!

I graduated from a Pentecostal university in the Bible Belt (yikes!), married a soon-to-be pastor (double yikes!), and began my career as a digital designer & strategist. I became a workaholic…it was a convenient escape from all the Jesus-y stuff.

2011

I left the church and the marriage. I moved to NYC to chase big ideas, big money, and big opportunities. I got to add some big name clients to my design portfolio.

I went to the gym for the first time and discovered that I had a body. During my first yoga teacher training I realized how disconnected I was from other people, which lit a fire in me to get curious and get connected.

2015

I moved to Seattle, started healing from PTSD, and began pursuing fitness full-time. I took my first (of hopefully many) human cadaver dissection. I explored.

2017

I opened TB Movement Co., a.k.a. Fitness for Introverts. I realized that traditional gyms weren’t my cup of tea, so I created a special little studio in the center of the universe (if you’re from Seattle, you know what I mean). I found my place in the world and I found my people. I fell in love with connecting, helping, coaching and teaching.

I fell in love. We made the decision to move to Oregon to be closer to adventure and family. I grieved the closure of my studio and all of the relationships that blossomed there.

During this transition period, I poured my time and energy into creating Shitty Idea Time, so that other small business owners could experience the success, empowerment, freedom and fulfillment I did.

I’m the proud founder of Ashland Strength Studio in Ashland, OR. I love spending each week helping people feel more at home in their body.

When I’m not coaching, I love speaking, gardening, DIY projects, adventuring, and sitting out on the back porch with my partner and dog.
